We have seen similar behaviour when doing a "hot" upgrade (running  
webserver) of Horde/ActiveSync with some iOS devices. Since then we  
stop the webserver, issue pear upgrade-all, use horde-clear-cache ->  
yes and start the webserver again. With this we have never seen it  
again.
