I removed all sending_charset prefs, no change. But you are pointing
in the right direction. The mail i received was ISO-8859-1 encoded, -
that seems to be default for german Outlook/Exchange installations. If
i change that to utf-8 in the sending outlook everything works as
expected.

But as i have no control over the charset of incoming mail that does
not solve the problem. I found an older reply i made with "Internet
Messaging Program (IMP) H5 (6.1.6)", also ISO-8859-1, that is ok. If i
reply to the very same message with the current install i get
scrambled chars.

i do not want to attach these mails for privacy reasons, but if it
will help debug i can send them to you privatly.
