[horde] Modifying files -- best practice?

I should clarify -- the color on Deleted.php was not the highlight, etc.  I am just asking how to modify some of those 'hard coded' variables.  I've got a nice theme put together, but I want to preserve the changes -- and thats what this post is about.  Please see my original post.  Thanks!
