[horde] Too many client connections to the LDAP Server

Hi,

we are experiencing some strange behaviour of the Horde LDAP backend. We
have a high amount of open conneciton to the LDAP server, which all try
to read the LDAP DSE root entries (the connection are valid and do not
produce any errors). These connections do not produce a high load on the
LDAP server, but are creating many log entries and a high amount of traffic.

Searching the code shows that those LDAP connections should be cached,
but it does not seem to work. It also seems that one logged in user
produces at least some LDAP connection processes.

Is there a possibility to debug the behaviour from the client side? Or
does someone had a similar experience?

Greetings
Diana
