That's by intention. In "smartmobile" mode, no calendar entries can be
added or edited.

There are two ways around this:

1) When logging in using a mobile browser, one may choose another mode
to use (e.g. dynamic mode). Then the regular user interface will appear
and appointments can be edited etc. However, the dynamic mode isn't
really suited for mobile touchscreen devices. It may work out somewhat
OK on a tablet PC, but on small smartphone screens, it's hard to use.

2) Instead of using Horde's web interface directly on the mobile device,
one can make use one of the sync mechanisms that Horde provides, i.e.
CalDAV or ActiveSync, to sync the calendar entries from the server to
the mobile device and back. This allows for the use of some tailored app
on the mobile device (calendar/task app) that will then be able to
create new entries or edit existing ones. Of course, doing so requires
some inital setup work, but this will usually pay off if working with
calendars on a regular basis. (It also allows for appointment's
reminders to be displayed on the mobile device, for example, which is
not possible when using browser access.)
