Since we're clarifying, just to clarify: both of these are optional. IMP 2.3
will work fine without them. Preferences are desireable if you have a stable
user base (if you're running 2.3 to access multiple servers, and usernames might
overlap between those servers, _don't_ use prefs right now. Nothing
security-sensitive will be shared, but your users will be weirded out.)
Connection tracking makes sure that form submits are unique, so that people
can't use the back button to log-in again. It's a good precaution, but IMP will
work without it.
