Enter your message text.  The last line should just have a "."
as the first character:

sendmail -f beau@intellinetinc.com -- fred@bedrock.com
This is the message text.
.  <<---- (note the single dot)

If sendmail replies with a "Cc:", just hit "CTRL-D".  Done.
