I am familiar with two different IMAP servers, the UW server and the CMU server 
(which I think is far and away superior to UW).  Both of those servers also support 
POP3 and I imagine that so do most of the other IMAP servers available.  Thus, 
there is no reason to run yet-another-server.  You may well discover that users 
using regular desktop mail clients will have a marked preference for IMAP if they 
also try a desktop IMAP client (Eudora, Mulberry, Netscape/Mozilla, and even that 
virus magnet, Outlook).

And besides, as someone else already noted, POP is not a good protocol choice for 
webmail.
