Syslog stats

Okay, I'm stumped. I can see what *data* enabling log_stats in IMP 2.2
sends to syslog, but I'm unable to figure out what the *intent* of it
is. Could someone give me an idea what one could possibly use that
data, as compared to the usual auth data, for?
