Several people have reported attempts to use LDAP as the PHPLIB session
storage, and various failures from it.  You can see bug #615 at
http://bugs.horde.org/, and several messages in the IMP mailing list
archive, including a post of mine with at least a starting point for
debugging problems with it.

The short answer is that I don't know anyone who's successfully made this
work, and this isn't high enough on my list of priorities to dig in and
figure out what the issues are.  Most of the developers are focused on IMP
2.3.x where PHPLIB is no longer required.

Sorry I don't have anything better to offer; perhaps someone else will be
motivated enough to get this working.  I also sent an email to the PHPLIB
list about ct_ldap.inc and we'll see if someone there knows something.
