New mail count in 2.3.7

Hi,

using the folder view and having the inbox set up to be checked for new mail 
the new mail count doesn't increase though new mails arrived.
Why does this not work correctly?
I use the latest cvs and cyrus.

And what about implementating the popup notification also in the mailbox view? 
I think most people have this view opened rather than the folder view.
