I'm not sure this belongs in the FAQ, because it's (1) not frequently
asked and (2) way more basic than a FAQ. It should probably go in
docs/INSTALL, I guess, but I thought I'd drop a line by before I
commit a change in case I'm missing something obvious (since I don't
use shm myself)..

Hi,

we are running IMP 2.2.4 without any database yet (session management
is done via shared memory).
Therefore he had to include shared-memory and semaphore support
into our php-4 installation for IMP to work.

We ran configure (of php) with:

./configure --with-...  --enable-sysvshm --enable-sysvsem
