can't send mail

OK, I am still having my 'can't send mail' problem, but I have a 
little more information.
	Using a different web browser, I managed to get it to send me 
a message, and also generate the right actionID

>There was an error sending your message - 04/18/01 23:57:14

I checked the mail logs, and all I can see at this exact timestamp is
Apr 18 23:57:14 mailserver imapd[16475]: imap service init from xx.xx.xx.xx
Apr 18 23:57:14 mailserver imapd[16475]: Authenticated user=testuser 
host=mailserver
xx.xx.xx.xx]
Apr 18 23:57:14 mailserver imapd[16475]: Logout user=testuser 
host=mailserver [xx.xx.xx.xx]
	(note I have changed these to elimate client specific info - 
there were real IP numbers in the original.

Every few seconds after that I get a message
  Apr 18 23:58:29 mailserver imapd[16488]: Command stream end of file, 
while reading
line user=testuser host=mailserver [xx.xx.xx.xx]
