messages in the sent folder

In the sent-mail folder, under the FROM: heading field, the mails are listed 
according to their TO: mail header, whereas they should have been their 
according to their FROM: header, as supposed to be.

For example:

Date         From                        Subject      Size
2001-05-01   To: user@mail.com           [No subject] 417

Here under the From: heading I see the To: mail header. What might be the 
reason for this.
