POP 3 Login Failure

Hi there,

We have just started using IMP and have a small problem.  The system runs
perfectly fine for people using POP3 (we dont use IMAP yet) who log in with
their correct username and password.  They see all of their email and can
view messages, delete them and so forth. 

When someone logs in with an invalid username/password, the whole thing
stops responding.  Other web requests to the same server get returned OK,
but IMP/Horde/PHP all seem to be frozen, not just the failed user, but all
users.

We are using FreeBSD 4.3, Shared Memory, PHP 4, IMP 2.2 and Horde 1.2.5.
The pop server is on a different machine running cucipop.

The POP server records an invalid login attempt but the web server (apache)
does not record any errors.
