I would suggest trying something with php.ini - there is a line in 
there that says:

; For Unix only.  You may supply arguments as well (default: 
'sendmail -t -i').
;sendmail_path =

Don't know if that will work, but you could try.

You can do both of these (I think - what do you mean by "map's"?) with IMP 2.3. 
And lots of other interesting things. Can you be more specific? Are you asking 
about a particular version?
