memory size exhausted after sending

Hello,

after composing a message with an attachment (1M) i get the followin error:

Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1476938
bytes) in /var/www/horde/imp/compose.php3

Attachments less then 800K are no problem.

Values in PHP.ini

post_max_size = 12M
file_uploads = On
upload_tmp_dir = /tmp
upload_max_filesize = 8M

Imp Version 2.2.5
Mysql, qmail, vpopmail, courier-imap, apache, php4.x...

any ideas???
