Possible? Yes - through javascript. Which isn't cross platform and doesn't work
at all on unix (although mozilla works, come to think of it). And it's
something that users don't at _all_ expect.

I can also see a use of it. Providing some non-standard keystrokes to common
tasks (Ctrl-E: expand names, Ctrl-S or Ctrl-M: send message...) would be a nice
thing and make it easier to use the ui.
