IMP can't understand imap/ssl

I am trying to use IMP with UW-IMAP with native SSL support. IMAP-SSL is 
working fine when I use Outlook or Netscape Messanger to connect, but IMP isn't 
working with it.

I am using IMP 2.2.6, and I tried the imap/ssl tip on the IMP FAQ. During 
connection, I get this error message on my console:

SSL error status: error:140760FC:SSL routines:SSL23_GET_CLIENT_HELLO:unknown 
protocol

I am running all of this on a Solaris 8 SPARC machine.
Is there anything about authentication I have to tweak in IMP?
