[imp] CVS Imp doesnt save prefs

ah, ok I set it to sql, but how do I set database name and 
username/password? I copy my old stuff and now it looks like this:

$conf['prefs']['driver'] = 'sql';
$conf['prefs']['params'] = array();
$conf['prefs']['params']['phptype'] = 'mysql';
$conf['prefs']['params']['hostspec'] = 'localhost';
$conf['prefs']['params']['username'] = 'xxxx';
$conf['prefs']['params']['password'] = 'xxxx';
$conf['prefs']['params']['database'] = 'xxxx';
$conf['prefs']['params']['table'] = 'horde_prefs';

but still nothing gets saved, this worked with an 3 month old cvs 
version of imp...

anywhere wrong here ?
