Memory problems

Hi,

i´ve been using IMP for more than 5 months without any problem.
recently, i was using horde-1.2.4 and IMP-2.2.4. last monday the system
has reported a memory error. below is the error message:

Warning: not enough shared memory left in
/var/www/horde-phplib/ct_shm.inc on line 54

Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already sent by (output
started at /var/www/horde-phplib/ct_shm.inc:54) in
/var/www/horde-phplib/session.inc on line 120

Warning: variable key 13 doesn't exist in
/var/www/horde-phplib/ct_shm.inc on line 79

Warning: not enough shared memory left in
/var/www/horde-phplib/ct_shm.inc on line 54

i read the php manual, edited /etc/php.ini and increased the
memory_limit configuration.
now, IMP seems to work fine.

have you faced this problem? how did you solve it?
can you give me more explanation about what´s happening with the memory?
