Can I ask exactly what are the performance issues that make switch off uw to
courrier.
And if it's possible for how many user do you lead the mail service.

IMP supports all equally, so this is best directed to an IMAP forum.

That said, we are switching off of UW to courier for performance issues.  If
you want mail accounts independent of OS accounts, then look to Cyrus.
