Won't work because of what you reported at first: It doesn't have the 
localeconv function. You can replace it of course, it's only used once but we 
don't give any guarantee that there won't be any other changes in the future 
that requires a more recent version.

Btw: I updated test.php in cvs to reflect the current requirements.
