feature request - option to auto 'expand names' upon sending

I have an ldap backend set up with addresses and everything works 
perfectly (thank you).  When a user types in a name like 'terry', they 
have to click on 'expand names' to have it check that entry against the 
address book.  It would be cool to have an option that says "if email 
address does not contain an '@' symbol, automatically check the ldap 
server for matches and send if one is found.  if more than one is found, 
ask the user".  This will skip the step of having to click on expand 
names.  the server will try to be smart about it for you.  if the 
address doesnt contain an @ symbol, it can be assumed that the user is 
attempting to pull from the address book.  This would be awesome as a 
non-default option that can be set globally and in the preferences of 
the user.

does this make sense?
