I understand your concerns but I think it will still be useful for a lot of 
people once the release is out and people start migrating to it. It will 
definitely become a faq on the mailing list and people won't look at any 
contrib directories on the server but rather in the tarball or rpm they 
dowloaded.

Perhaps a compromise would be to put in a contrib directory under imp but 
keeping it in cvs will save us from answering many questions/complaints.
