Let's say I have the following default settings:

$_prefs['sent_mail_folder'] = array( 'value' => 1, ...
$_prefs['sent_mail_folder'] = array( 'value' => 'Sent', ...
$conf['user']['allow_folders'] = true;
$conf['user']['select_sentmail_folder'] = true;

Now if a user logs in and composes a message but this folder does not exist,
the compose window shows a checkbox for " Save a copy in " - which is
checked per default (unless the user has selected different in her settings).
Now if "Sent" does not exist, the dropdown list that specifies where to
save the message will show the first folder available (eg. "AAA") as selected
(if "Sent" existed the HTML code would read 'selected="selected"' - therefore
"Sent" would be listed first.)
Now the user sends the message - and later wonders where the sent message was
copied to. I bet she won't search for it in "AAA".

Greetings,

Michael

Set the value to 1 and lock the preference in config/prefs.php.
