3.0 prefs not working with postgresql

I've got 3.0 installed and working on FreeBSD 4.2 with PostgreSQL
7.1.3.  I've run all the .sql scripts for horde but I can't figure
from the docs what I need to put in horde.php under the
$conf['prefs']['params'] stuff.  Everything I've tried just gives me
errors logging in.

Can someone shead some light on this please?
