can't get past logon screen

i don't see any previous postings with this problem:
i just got all the sw installed and the test.php shows everything ok (imap, 
etc) and incrementing. however, when i go to logon, none of the valid imap 
(wu-imap) accounts work and it doesn't give any indication of an error. is 
there a log or something to look into? i installed horde 2.0/imp 3.0 & 
apache/php/mysql/etc from horde source rpms on redhat
