general troubles with IMP3

Hello,

just got imp3 up and running.
i have a few questions.

*I do not seem to see a preferences button when logged in?
*how do i specify what smtp server to use?
	i have set it up in servers.php and still attempts to send mail though 	localhost.
*Idealy i would like the users to log in with their email address 'foo@bar.
org' and have their return address be so as well.
