Custom IMP page with a jabber or other messenger client built in

I am using e-smith server and will install a jabber server on it. This =
will also be implemented at my work.

Has anyone done a customer built imp webmail page that also on one side =
has a jabber client, all on one page, no floating boxes.

If jabber client is not an option as I know there is other instant =
messenging options available, which one does people suggest. This is =
mainly to be used for a small intranet for approx 50-60 people.

Any ideas or help would be appreciated.
