/var/spool/mail/$USER instead of ~/mbox for INBOX

Hi,
is there a chance to tell IMP Ver. 3.0 to look in /var/spool/mail/$USER =
for Mail and not in ~/mbox to guarantee only to show the new mails and =
not the old ones.
I am using a POP3 daemon.
