We run 950+ user accounts from our Redhat 7.1 server. The hardware is
simply an AMD K6-2 500 processor, 256MB PC133 SDRAM, 10GB IDE hard disk,
10/100 NIC. This server functions as an IMP mailserver, webserver, and
proxy server. Our website averages 27,000 individual page views monthly.
I've never had a problem with speed issues, YMMV. The funny thing is
that this was originally just a "test" server...I was convinced that
we'd need beefier hardware. It worked so well, we threw it into
production.

Obviously, better/faster hardware is your friend. But that's the beauty
of well written open-source software...great performance, even on
sometimes sub-standard (or downright ancient) hardware. God I love
Linux/IMP/Apache/Squid!
