yes, I do it every day !!
it is not part of IMP to do it.
But if you install GNUPG (this what I use) and "winpt" with the shortcuts keys, you do CTRL + ALT + E and thats  ENCRYPTED !

but you can re-develop the code of GNUPG in php ! if you want ...
