IMP 3.1 and PHP with IMAP/SSL c-client

Hi,
Pre: I'm new to horde and IMP...
I did a lot of reading last week and yesterday I started implementing IMP.
Since I would like the communication between the apache server (which runs
the Horde / IMP PHP scripts) and the IMAP server to be encrypted, I compiled
the WU IMAP c-client with the command "make slx SSLTYPE=unix". This compiles
the c-client for use with IMAP/SSL.
Because of the SSL enabled c-client I had to compile PHP with the
"-with-imap-ssl" option. That works fine.
After installing and configuring Horde and IMP I did the test which reports
all the enabled modules and stuff. The output of this test now shows "imap
support NO"...
My question is:
How do I enable the use of SSL based IMAP connections between the Apache
server and the IMAP server? It seems that IMP is unable to handle this.
