Setting Language

Hello.

I'm having trouble setting a language in IMP.  I'm in the UK and therefore
don't want dates in the format MM/DD/YY because that's not right.  I've
changed to en_GB and the dates are still the same, I've even tried French
(as the dates there are DD/MM/YY) with no success; dates are still
represented in the American way.

Anyone got any clues?  I have gettext fully installed on my system (assuming
all I needed to do was download, ./configure, make and make install) on
FreeBSD 4.5.
