[imp] Error sending mail

I get the following message in horde.log when trying to send mail to a
local user through imp.
'sendmail returned error code 71 ....on line 787 of
..../imp/compose.php'
The compose window show 'There was an error sending your message'
BUT, the mail still goes through.  
 
Example:
 
Send a mail to root@mydomain.com <mailto:root@mydomain.com>  from imp,
logged in as a user.
I can send mail fine to any address outside of my local users....without
any error messages in the compose window, or the log.
 
Any ideas?
