I had "performance problems" too. My host machine is an old 120Mhz pentium
64Mb, three network cards, providing MASQing for my internal LAN [about ten
hosts], four virtual domains and all kinds of services [s/imap s/pop dns
firewall dmz snort http smtp to name a few]
I write "performance problems" since these are subjective values, just the
impression that it could/should be faster.
IMP with UW IMAP and MySQL
Last night I swapped the original 1,5Gb harddisk for a new 20Gb one, both
because of the lacking off free space and because I thought it might be the
biggest bottle neck of the system.
Let me tell you: it was. IMP & the other php stuff [gallery to name one] is
screamingly fast now, both localy [100Mb] and remote [mere 1Mb].
I can't speak for your system, but remember that the bottle neck of complex
systems is often something rather trivial, once you identified them ;)
Cheers,
