| just to potentially save someone else time and trouble later i'll
| summarize what was wrong (or what seems to be going on) here.
|
| whenever i enable auth_ldap in my apache configuration horde/imp cause
| apache (children) to exit with a signal 11. i don't know why and how, *
| but* this behaviour has only been detected with horde/imp so far. all
| other virtual hosts/applications are running as usual with or without
| auth_ldap in httpd.conf (note that auth_ldap isn't actually used
| anywhere under the vhost that horde/imp run under).
Jo,

Hmmm... I don't know what version of Apache you are using but
fwiw, when I upgraded to apache2.0.35 with php4.2.0, I was getting
hundreds of signal 10's and enough 11's decide to order new ram. A
couple of days ago I upgraded to apache2.0.36 and php4.2.1 cvs
and they stopped completely. I'm still not recommending this
combination but it is now working fairly good although it seems
slower than apache1.3.xx. I am also using ldap but not the
apache module. That is why I upgraded, I thought that the
module was included but it isn't and I haven't taken time to
get it from cvs and build it.

| so... i found the problem but don't know what the problem is - and at
| this point i don't care enough to find out more. :)

| => sorry, maybe i wasn't clear. the test.php "self-tests" run through
