Nah, you're doing everything right. Seems 4.2.1's PEAR is missing a few things. 
Just copy over Log* from the old one to the new one. Not sure why they left it 
out. If you look at the source of the 4.1.2's pear and 4.2.1, you'll notice a 
few are missing. I've not been able to trace down what they did there, there is 
not a peep in the ChangLogs anywhere.
