[imp] authentication failure imp 3.0

Hello,

i 've configured imp 3.0 as specified in this installation procedure :
http://www.geocities.com/oliversl/imp/ . Everything went fine but i can't
login . I receive always this message : "Login failed for some reason. Most
likely your username or password was entered incorrectly".
When i test IMAP with an email client everything works fine. When using the
IMP 3.0 login , i can find the following message in /var/log/maillog :
Jul  1 21:33:15 linbo1 imapd[15843]: imap service init from 127.0.0.1
Jul  1 21:33:15 linbo1 imapd[15843]: Command stream end of file, while
reading line user=??? host=UNKNOWN

Has anybody any idea why i this error occurs ?
