I have a very similar setup here, and a very similar problem.

I haven't done extensive testing to discover to how many people a 
message composed in IMP with a jpg attachment is, but it certainly isn't 
viewable here on my main MUA. I get a warning about invalid characters 
in the Base64 encoding.

The copy of the message which IMP has filed using IMAP APPEND is fine. A 
quick comparison suggests that the problem is related to line endings - 
perhaps that the message that goes out through Postfix has LF endings 
rather than CR/LF?
