Fwd: [imp] IMP 3.1 will not show email ( but The calendar will work and also the memo system )

Well I compiled php-4.2.1 with apache 2.0.36 and 1.3.26 and have the same 
error on both versions  ( horde-2.1 imp 3.1)
The first page comes up then after login the  bottom will stay but the 
upper half will turn into  mixed symbols ( nothing from the American 
alphabet ) I might get the screen were I can pick between different modules 
calendar mail or tasks if I click on options same thing.    I NEED HELP   I 
have spent 36 hours straight on this and more hours just in between stuff. 
( I  did get ldap to work though not a complete lost)
