Greetings,

I've just set up imp-3.0/horde-2.0 on OpenBSD 3.1. I configured them to avoid
the "double login" by uncommenting the registry['auth'] lines in registry.php.
imp/horde runs on a separate system from my imap server. Access to the imap
server uses TLS with self-signed certificates (imap/tls/novalidate-cert). The
web server serves the same pages for both http and https.

Everything works fine if I access imp via http: login once, get to my mail
immediately. If I use https, however, I have to log in twice. The first login
works for horde, but I get a second login screen with these error messages:

Warning: Retrying LOGIN authentication after AUTHENTICATE LOGIN failed
(errflg=1) in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Retrying LOGIN authentication after AUTHENTICATE LOGIN failed
(errflg=1) in Unknown on line 0

Warning: Can not authenticate to IMAP server: AUTHENTICATE LOGIN failed
(errflg=2) in Unknown on line 0

If I then click on "Log in to Mail" and log in again, everything works.

/tmp/horde.log has these lines, one for the failure, one for the success:

Sep 03 21:35:15 HORDE [error] [imp] FAILED LOGIN 66.93.0.191 to
imap.unseenedge.net:143[imap/tls/novalidate-cert] as oiler [on line 332
    of "/var/www/horde/imp/lib/IMP.php"]

Sep 03 21:35:46 HORDE [notice] [imp] Login success for oiler [66.93.0.191]
    to {imap.unseenedge.net:143} [on line 51 "/var/www/horde/imp/redirect.php"]

It's not at all clear to me why http or https should affect the login. Does
anyone have any ideas?

Regards,
Jon
