Hehe, seen that one too... kinda quirky but at least you can force everyone to
be subscribed to everything at the IMP and Mailer level.  We locked
subscriptions out a long time ago due to this 'quirk'.  

We leave nothing to chance with our users ;)  Hence my desire to make the path
behavior and rename/move stuff crystal clear.
