[imp] GIF -> PNG replacement

Well considering the orig. suggestion involved replacing the icons (which rely
heavily on transparency for allowing the various color themes to change, prob.
not a good move.

Although I could be misunderstanding you and only "opacity levels" are broken in
IE, maybe their is an alternate approach to getting "see-through" other than the
broken transparency functionality.
