[imp] strange behavior of imp

hi there,

i have really fancy things going on here ;o)
- can't see all messages in the selected mailbox
 - only the first sheet shows all messages
 - the second starts missing already some
 - and than it depends on the mailbox if i can see some more or not
   - looks for example like this:
     Page 38 of 38  556 to 564 of 564 Messages
     but there is no message in the list than...
 - most messages are not viewable
   - when selected for detail-view
   - it looks for example like this:
     projects/fem: [No Subject] (8 of 564)
- message count and navigation behaves fine
- all mailboxes are select and viewable

- the mailserver is usable fine by other clients, like mulberry or pine or 
mozilla, outlook...
- everything else works without any problems...
- the imap debug doesnt show any strange thing, login opening the selected 
mailbox - all semes to work excellent, except this stupid thing described 
above...
- other mailservers show same or similar behavior...
  for example there are 300something unread emails shown
  for inbox at login time but than no email if i select
  the inbox 0 of 0 (this case is an imap 1.5 server)

software:
linux (suse something, but apache, imap are compiled from source)
cyrus-imapd 2.1.9
cyrus-sasl 2.1.5
imap-2002.RC8
mysql 3.23.37
