[imp] New Install of horde & imp Can't get past horde login

Install of 
apache 2.0.40 and php 4.2.3
on solaris 8 system
I am able to see the test.php page 
but the index.php page states that I need to uncomment or take out the *.dist
extentions in the config file ( I already did!) I can not seem to get past this
page to a login screen.
???????!!!!????!!!!
