I'm new to the list so I thought I would say hi, and ask a question or two.
I work for a data acquisition site for public schools. Currently we are trying to find a solution to our student e-mail problem. Problem is some schools want to offer student e-mail and well we don't have anything to currently to facilitate it. I recently installed a qmail toaster http://qmailtoaster.clikka.com which includes Horde/Imp as the web mail interface. We are really impressed with the horde/Imp interface and at the moment it is about 80% the product of choice for us. We have a few problems though, one of them being VERY large, the other we could probably live with out. Anyhow will have about 100,000 users on this system, and well we need to get them all in the system. Does anyone know of a way to auto import users from say a tab delimited file? Since the toaster setup uses mysql for all user records and also creates a directory in the vpopmail user directory for the users mail, I thought perhaps I could write a script that would do the import for me. On the other hand I really need some way that my end users can setup the users or else every year I'll be stuck importing new students and exporting the old ones who graduated. So with around 20 districts that would be a lot of users. If any one has any suggestions or examples of what they do that would be much appreciated. (this may be the wrong mailing list for that question but thought I would ask)
Also I added Turba to my IMP install, Turba works great and is just as nice as the IMP package, but we would also like our users to be able to create there own distribution lists. (You know it's that old we want web mail to do everything Exchange/Outlook can do.) Is there a way in Turba or IMP to allow users to do this?
Once again thanks for any suggestions.
