There's an option built into IMP to set a Reply-To address for an
identity. Setting that via a backend somehow (LDAP perhaps) may suit
your needs. I think this also might be what the hooks are for. Check
out this email that was flying around the horde list:

You could use the "n8734" as your horde username and "akapit" as
IMP's.

Subject: {Spam} [imp] (more) How to login with email address -AND-
username (vusers)

I've a vpop3d server with virtualdomains and virtualusers...

So, on my imp login page I need the fields:

Email -> from_addr (reply_to,etc)
Username -> pop3 user
Password -> password
Server -> Optional doesn't matters
Port -> Optional doesn't matters

I don't know how to do it...
For example... I have "akapit at ecnex.com" but my pop username is not
"akapit"
but "n8734" and... When I login on my imp... And I compose a new mail,
my
identify is "n8734 at ecnex.com" when it should be "akapit at ecnex.com".

Any Ideas?
