You don't.  This is entirely a function of your IMAP server (and you
didn't tell us which one you're using).

If you're using the UW-IMAP server, you can compile it with a hack that
moves everything from /var/mail/xx to ~xx/mbox every time the user
connects... or you can choose a different storage driver... or you could
switch to a different IMAP server.

(Whatever you do, you'll have to make sure that your mail delivery
function (MDA) puts the mail where the IMAP server expects to find it.
You asked about procmail; some people use that as a solution.)
